Inspired by his natural physical environment he uses oil painting and sculpture as his mediums to capture this. Rodgie takes influence from long cycle trips with his father around Skye and the Western Isles trying to capture the ever-changing environments of the Islands. He tries to capture a sense of atmosphere, and the strong colours, of the rugged Scottish landscape.
With his roots firmly in the Scottish Borders, Kerr is often inspired by the richly coloured landscape of rolling hills, woodland and the River Tweed, it's such a picturesque area that it can't fail to inspire. He enjoys the interaction of light and water mixed in mountain landscape and he tries to capture the atmosphere, colour and texture of the moment.
