Biography

Carrie Goller is an American painter based in Washington State whose work centers on wildlife, most notably birds. Working in oil and encaustic, she combines refined realism with subtle departures from direct observation.

Her Floriferous series introduces botanical forms that emerge from the subject as though part of its natural structure. These elements are developed to feel inherent rather than applied, creating compositions that are both grounded and quietly altered.

Goller’s paintings are characterized by controlled surfaces, a restrained palette, and an emphasis on atmosphere alongside precise focal detail. While rooted in traditional painting, the work moves beyond strict naturalism through its integration of organic, evolving forms.

She exhibits nationally and internationally, with representation in New York, California, Colorado, and London. Her work is held in private and corporate collections in the United States and internationally. She is a Signature Member of Artists for Conservation.

Statement

"I begin with close observation, but I do not try to describe everything I see. I am more interested in where the image can hold back. In the Floriferous paintings, botanical forms grow from the animal as though they are part of its structure. They are developed to feel inherent rather than placed, slightly untamed and specific to each subject. The work is built through a balance of control and release. Certain areas are brought into sharp focus, while others are softened or allowed to fall away. This creates a sense of presence without forcing a single, fixed reading.I work in oil and encaustic, building layered surfaces that allow for both precision and atmosphere."- Carrie Goller.
