- Artist Bio
Born in the heart of the potteries Staffordshire in 1972. Neil is an outstanding figurative bronze sculptor and one of only a handful of sculptors creating contemporary figurative work to this degree of fine art in the UK. Neil considers himself self taught. He is currently based in Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire.
At 16 he gained a two-year apprenticeship at the New Victoria theatre as a stage set and props designer where he discovered his love of sculpture. He was then approached by pottery giant Wedgwood, to work in house as a prestige sculptor and designer where he spent the next 7 years. He is now considered a Master sculptor in a career spanning over 30 years.
The curves of the human form are overwhelmingly complex and Neil’s extraordinary talent for capturing the fleeting gestures and mood in his sculptures coupled with an acute understanding of anatomy are what make his work unique. Each artwork is a labour of love and Neil personally overseas every sculpture and unique patina, working closely with the foundry to produce the best possible finishes. His bronze editions sell out quickly and his work has become very sought after in recent years. He is simply one of a very few rare talents capable of making sculpture to this degree of fine art today. His trademark being his exquisitely beautiful, angelic faces which give his work an other worldly dream like quality.
Neil has received many Commissions including commemorative Royal Portraits for the world famous Royal Doulton including the late queen Elizabeth II. Commissions include Wedgwood Prestige basalt Jasper collections for Harrods. Neil’s work is on permanent display at the Wedgwood Museum. Previous shows include. AAF London, Fresh art fair Cheltenham, Priory gallery, Broadway, Worcestershire. Harrods, Las Vegas Locog 2012 Olympic games.
