Kelly Paterson was born in 1995 in Harare, Zimbabwe. She was schooled there until she had to leave in order to pursue a tertiary education. She did so at Vega School of Brand Leadership in Cape Town, South Africa. Although she had always enjoyed art (mostly drawing) throughout school, it was not until the year 2014 that she discovered her passion for painting.
By this time, she had already been accepted by her university of choice, and so went on to study a degree in Creative Branding and Communications, specializing in copywriting.
Kelly kept painting in her spare time and sold a number of works (mostly commission based) throughout the duration of her studies in which she successfully graduated from in April 2018. Since then, Kelly has exhibited and sold her work in Zimbabwe and across South Africa until recently relocating to London in order to pursue her dream of becoming a full-time artist.
“I leave a little piece of my soul in each work. Lately I’ve been focusing on botanicals. I’m fascinated by the complexity of natural patterns, and I just can’t get enough of the colours.”
