Midnight

In Midnight, Lori Mirabelli explores the quiet tension between light and shadow through a richly layered abstract composition. Created in mixed media on canvas, the work feels both architectural and atmospheric, as if a cityscape has dissolved into memory. A deep, inky black field anchors the lower half of the painting, pierced by reflections of electric pinks, turquoise blues, and flashes of ember red that shimmer like distant lights on water.

The upper register contrasts with a softer, textural landscape of muted whites, warm greys, and weathered blush tones. Delicate linear forms—suggestive of grids, windows, or fragments of urban structure—hover across the surface, creating a dialogue between precision and erosion. The palette is restrained yet punctuated with luminous accents, allowing the dark base to glow rather than recede.

This original work embodies Mirabelli’s abstract language: expressive, layered, and emotionally resonant. Midnight is available for sale at Signet Contemporary Art and online.
