You Are My Soul’s Joy by Yvonne Coomber is a joyful original abstract landscape painting, filled with vibrant colour and expressive movement. The work celebrates the beauty of nature through a lively field of wildflowers, creating a feeling of happiness, warmth and emotional connection.
Measuring 80 x 80cm, the painting is created in oil on linen and features colourful floral fields expressed through energetic, gestural abstraction against a soft white neutral background. The open setting allows the flowers to take centre stage, creating a wonderfully light and uplifting composition.
Coomber’s distinctive Impressionist style comes through in her expressive brushwork and intuitive use of colour. Rather than painting individual flowers with precise detail, she builds the landscape through layers of vibrant marks, allowing the blooms to merge and flow naturally across the surface. The loose, energetic treatment gives the painting a wonderful sense of movement, as though the flowers are gently swaying in a summer breeze.
The vivid floral colours against the white neutral background create a fresh and sophisticated palette. The light ground gives the composition an airy quality, allowing each burst of colour to stand out while maintaining a sense of harmony. The contrast between the open background and abundant flowers gives the work both energy and tranquillity.
There is a beautiful sense of joy, love and appreciation for nature within You Are My Soul’s Joy. The abundance of flowers suggests happiness and celebration, while the open composition gives the painting a feeling of freedom and optimism. The poetic title adds an intimate emotional dimension, suggesting that the beauty surrounding us can become a source of lasting joy and connection.
