With oil on canvas, Bisbee reimagines the famous Boston Marathon route in her signature abstracted cityscape style. Using thick textures and painterly strokes, she evokes both the movement of the race and the emotional charge surrounding this location.

Artist Statement:
My sister ran the Boston Marathon twice. In 2013, she was ten minutes away from the finish line when the explosion happened. My heart sunk when I heard the news, not knowing for an hour whether she was ok. She said that the race came to an immediate halt after the explosions, and being from out of town, she didn’t know where to go. She used a stranger’s cell phone to call the family to let us know that she was safe saying, “Another woman stopped and she asked me if I needed a blanket. She just handed me a blanket out of her car and said to use it and get warm, just acts of kindness,” Ever since I could remember, she had been a runner, and I was so proud of her efforts to make it to the such a prestigious marathon, raising money for a non-profit, Project Hope.

The palette of bold pinks, lavenders, and yellows creates a surreal atmosphere, making the scene both celebratory and haunting. The word FINISH stands boldly in the foreground, a symbol of triumph and resilience. The painting becomes more than a cityscape—it is a deeply personal meditation on survival, kindness, and community spirit.
