This striking oil on canvas by Marek Krumpar is currently on display and available for sale at Signet Contemporary Art Gallery and online.
Krumpar’s London Bus places the viewer at the centre of the capital’s morning rush, where the city awakens beneath the solemn architecture of St Paul’s Cathedral. A red Routemaster emerges from the mist, headlights aglow, rolling steadily toward the foreground with nostalgic grace.
The contrast between luminous shopfronts and the towering classical dome evokes a dialogue between old and new, permanence and movement. With a rich, impasto surface and diffused palette, Krumpar captures the spirit of London not through its noise, but its quiet, contemplative energy.
More than a depiction of a bus route, London Bus is a celebration of urban life, rhythm, and reverie.
