Sentosa Island

Sentosa Island is painted in oil on canvas, showing the resort destination through Bisbee’s playful, abstracted cityscape lens. Towers, attractions, and architectural forms burst in luminous pinks, purples, and greens, framed by dark foliage in the foreground. The whole scene is infused with the atmosphere of leisure and fun.

Artist statement: If this painting ends up looking like an amusement park, that’s because it is. Along with an aquarium and waterpark, Universal Studios is located on Sentosa Island in Singapore. The island resort definitely looks fun with my color palette and whimsical architecture like a playground. I love how this painting turned out with a silhouette of tropical forest showing the view from a nature park in the Southern Ridges.

Her palette enhances the playfulness of the island, rendering it as a playground of colour and wonder. It is at once architectural and fantastical, a place where reality is heightened by imagination and painterly delight.
