“Trafalgar Square, North Side” by Michael Alford offers a painterly journey into the iconic heart of London, rendered with sophistication and emotive depth. The viewer is guided through rain-glossed pavements and bustling crowds, past the soaring facades of the National Gallery and St Martin-in-the-Fields, all bathed in the soft light of an overcast day.
Alford’s brushwork brings vitality and motion to the urban crowd, with glistening reflections underfoot that lend the scene a cinematic quality. Flags flutter, umbrellas dot the landscape, and familiar landmarks rise elegantly in the mist — each element harmonised by a muted, elegant palette.
“Trafalgar Square, North Side” is a timeless portrait of a city in motion, inviting the viewer to experience the pulse and poise of London through Alford’s expressive lens.
