Fruit Splash

In Fruit Splash, Heinz Schönhammer transforms a moment of movement into a dazzling spectacle of colour and texture. Painted in oil on canvas, the scene bursts with energy as raspberries, redcurrants, and sliced oranges tumble through crystalline water. The painting captures that precise, exhilarating instant when fruit meets liquid, frozen in time yet full of motion.

The artist’s mastery of realism is undeniable, yet the piece also carries a sense of theatricality—water arcs and splashes across the composition like a choreographed performance. Schönhammer’s attention to detail allows each berry and citrus slice to appear almost tangible, their surfaces glistening with freshness. The interplay of translucent water and solid fruit creates a striking visual tension, drawing the viewer in to examine every droplet and ripple.

The colour palette is bold and dynamic—radiant reds and warm oranges set against the rich blue of the background, with touches of bright green from scattered leaves. This vibrant contrast intensifies the sense of freshness and vitality, while the reflective surface below adds depth and dimension. The painting is both a study in precision and a celebration of sensory delight, perfectly balancing control with spontaneity.
