“Pear & Blackberries” by Rob Richie is an original contemporary realism still life painting, beautifully rendered in oil on board. Measuring 13 × 13 cm and presented in a 20 × 20 cm black frame, this intimate artwork celebrates the natural beauty of fruit through precise observation, subtle tonal variation, and refined painterly detail.
The composition features a fresh green pear with a delicate leaf, accompanied by two blackberries at different stages of ripeness. One blackberry is richly ripe and almost black, while the other remains green, creating an intriguing contrast of colour and texture. This simple arrangement gives the painting a distinctive visual character while highlighting the subtle changes found within nature.
Richie’s contemporary realist painting style brings remarkable presence to these everyday subjects. The smooth surface of the pear is carefully modelled through delicate tonal transitions, while the darker blackberry provides depth and contrast. The inclusion of the green berry introduces another layer of colour, creating a harmonious relationship between the fruit and leaf.
The restrained composition allows each element to command attention. Rather than relying on elaborate surroundings, Richie focuses on the inherent beauty of the objects themselves, transforming a modest arrangement of fruit into a sophisticated original still life artwork.
The contrast between fresh greens and deep black creates a refined contemporary palette, while the compact scale makes the painting particularly suited to intimate spaces, curated interiors, or collectors seeking an original artwork with a subtle yet distinctive presence.
Signed by the artist and presented in a sophisticated black frame, “Pear & Blackberries” is ready to display. Its elegant composition and intimate scale make it a charming addition to a collection of contemporary still life art or a beautifully considered accent within a modern interior.
