Pink Blanket

In Pink Blanket, Lenny Cornforth presents a cropped figurative composition that feels both intimate and quietly theatrical. Painted in oil on canvas, the work focuses on the lower half of a seated figure wrapped in a richly textured pink garment, suspended against a deep black ground. The dramatic contrast isolates the subject, allowing the viewer to concentrate on gesture, fabric and subtle human presence rather than narrative context.

Cornforth’s realist approach is meticulous, particularly in the rendering of skin tones and the nuanced fall of light across bare feet. The colour palette is dominated by layered pinks — from rose to fuchsia — punctuated with delicate flecks of white and soft crimson that suggest woven threads and tactile warmth. Against the velvety darkness of the background, the luminous fabric appears almost sculptural, its weight and softness convincingly conveyed through confident brushwork.

This original oil on canvas painting is available for sale at Signet Contemporary Art and online. In Pink Blanket, Cornforth combines contemporary figurative realism with a striking minimalist composition, creating a work that is at once bold, tender and contemplative.
