Twix No. 2

In Twix No. 2, James Zamora presents a carefully composed still life that focuses on the tactile beauty of an unwrapped chocolate bar. Painted in oil on canvas, the work captures the moment just before indulgence, where the glossy chocolate surface and the crinkled golden wrapper become subjects of quiet fascination. By isolating the object within a minimal setting, Zamora allows viewers to reconsider something normally consumed without thought.

The painting sits firmly within the tradition of contemporary realism and hyperrealist still life. Zamora’s meticulous brushwork recreates the reflective surfaces of foil packaging and the smooth, sculptural contours of the chocolate bars with remarkable clarity. At the same time, the composition subtly nods to the long history of still life painting, where everyday objects are used to explore light, texture and materiality.

The colour palette plays an important role in the visual impact of the piece. Warm caramel and chocolate tones are balanced by the luminous gold of the wrapper and the bold red and white lettering of the brand. These vibrant elements stand out against the calm neutral background, creating a harmonious yet striking composition. Painted in oil on canvas, this original work demonstrates Zamora’s ability to transform ordinary objects into compelling contemporary artworks.
