“Les style n’est pas un number (style is not a number). For many years style has been associated with youth and beauty in the media and world of fashion. How much things have changed as older women prove that style evolves over time as self-confidence grows. However society’s attitudes to ageing have also changed. This work features Iris Apfel, an American businesswoman, interior designer and fashion icon. In 2005 Iris drew acclaim for an exhibition at the Costume Institute at The Metropolitan Museum of Art featuring her collection of costume jewellery styled with clothes on mannequins as she would wear it. She has become a fashion icon and in 2019 she signed to IMG to become a model at age 97 defying all stereotypes of beauty.”
