In Dog Rose, Paul Treasure explores the beauty of flowering vegetation reflected across a calm water surface. Painted in oil on canvas, the composition focuses on the interplay between lush foliage, delicate blossoms, and shifting light. The close-cropped perspective creates a sense of intimacy, inviting the viewer into the heart of the landscape.
The colour palette is rich and vibrant, combining fresh greens with accents of rose pink, crimson, turquoise, and pale aqua. The water reflects these colours in softened, abstract passages, creating a gentle rhythm across the lower portion of the painting. Textural brushwork adds depth and vitality throughout the composition.
Influenced by contemporary impressionism, Treasure uses expressive mark-making to capture the atmosphere of a flourishing summer landscape. The painting balances abstraction and representation, allowing colour and texture to communicate the essence of the scene. Dog Rose is an original artwork painted in oil on canvas and is available for sale at Signet Contemporary Art Gallery and online.
