Menton Night

This original landscape painting by Denis Ribas presents an exciting mix of multicoloured, impasto hues applied to a view of a coastal town during the night. The architecture is rendered with many layers of oil paint which give the forms a dynamic sense and the artist has cast dramatic reflections of the buildings onto the waterscape below. The interesting colours of the buildings are then stretched throughout the whole piece as they diffuse across the waters, creating a vivid, kaleidoscope of tones.
