French Pool offers another elevated view of a swimming pool, painted in oil on canvas with Cornforth’s refined sense of balance and restraint. The composition is architectural and serene, focusing on geometry, negative space, and the gentle presence of human activity. The style leans toward contemporary realism with a strong graphic sensibility.
The palette is harmoniously balanced, with cool blues and aquas of the pool offset by earthy paving stones, soft greens, and pops of red from umbrellas. These colours are carefully layered to create depth while maintaining a calm, sun-washed atmosphere.
This original oil painting on canvas is available for sale at Signet Contemporary Art and online. French Pool captures the quiet luxury of leisure and place, showcasing Cornforth’s ability to transform everyday scenes into contemplative, beautifully structured works.
